How to Use Primer Correctly
Apply primer to clean, moisturized skin after skincare but before makeup, using gentle patting motions and waiting 60 seconds before foundation.
Primer is the difference between makeup that lasts until lunch and makeup that survives the entire day looking fresh.
- Prep your canvas. Start with freshly cleansed skin and your usual moisturizer. Wait five minutes for everything to absorb completely before touching primer.
- Choose your weapon. Silicone primers smooth texture and blur pores. Water-based primers hydrate and work with water-based foundations. Oil-based primers add glow but only pair with oil-based makeup.
- Apply strategically. Use a pea-sized amount and pat into areas where makeup typically fades first—T-zone, under eyes, around nose. Don't rub or you'll lift your skincare underneath.
- Wait it out. Give primer 60 seconds to set before applying foundation. This creates the grip your makeup needs to last all day without sliding around.
