How to Apply Lip Gloss Perfectly
Start with clean, hydrated lips and apply gloss from the center outward using light, even strokes.
Less is always more with gloss—the goal is lips that look effortlessly juicy, not like you fell face-first into a lip product display.
- Prep your base. Exfoliate dead skin with a lip scrub or damp toothbrush, then apply a thin layer of lip balm. Let it absorb for two minutes before removing any excess with a tissue.
- Map your application. Start at the center of your bottom lip and work outward toward the corners. This prevents overloading the edges where gloss tends to migrate and feather.
- Layer strategically. Apply one thin coat, press lips together gently, then add a second layer only to the center for dimension. Avoid the very edges to prevent bleeding and stickiness.
- Clean the edges. Use a small brush or cotton swab to remove any excess product from the lip line. This keeps the application crisp and prevents the glossy-toddler effect.
