How to Create Korean Gradient Lips

Press lip tint into the center of your lips and blend outward with a finger for that effortless bitten look.

The gradient lip is proof that the best beauty tricks are about placement, not product—master the technique and any tint will work.

  1. Prep your base. Start with bare lips or apply a thin layer of lip balm and blot excess. The gradient technique works best on a smooth, slightly matte surface that won't interfere with blending.
  2. Apply tint to the center. Dab lip tint or liquid lipstick only to the inner center of both upper and lower lips. Think small—you want about a third of your lip area covered initially.
  3. Blend outward. Use your ring finger to gently pat and press the color from the center toward the outer edges. Work quickly while the product is still workable and buildable.
  4. Soften the edges. Continue patting until you achieve a soft gradient that fades naturally into your natural lip color. The edges should be completely diffused with no harsh lines.
