Makeup for Mature Skin
Less is more — hydrate first, then use cream formulas to enhance rather than cover.
The goal is not to look younger, it's to look like the most polished version of yourself right now.
- Prime with intention. Skip mattifying primers. Use a hydrating primer or facial oil to create a smooth base that won't cling to fine lines. Pat it into areas where makeup tends to settle — around the nose, eyes, and mouth.
- Foundation strategy. Choose cream or serum foundations over powder. Apply with a damp beauty sponge, pressing rather than dragging. Build coverage only where needed — typically the center of the face.
- Concealer placement. Use concealer sparingly and only where necessary. Apply in a triangle under the eye rather than directly on dark circles. Blend the edges but leave the center untouched for maximum coverage.
- Eye focus. Keep eyeshadow matte and neutral to avoid emphasizing texture. Line the upper lash line only, keeping it thin and close to lashes. Curl lashes and use brown mascara for a softer look.
- Cheek and lip color. Use cream blush applied to the apples of cheeks and blended upward. Choose lip colors with some moisture — avoid matte formulas that can emphasize lip lines.
