Birthday Party Makeup That Actually Photographs Well
Build your look around one statement feature—bold eyes or bold lips, never both—and amp up your base coverage to handle flash photography.
- Prime for longevity. Start with a mattifying primer on your T-zone and a hydrating one everywhere else. Birthday parties mean hours of wear, dancing, and probably some crying from laughter.
- Build a photo-ready base. Use medium to full coverage foundation—flash photography will wash you out otherwise. Set with translucent powder, focusing on areas that get oily first.
- Define your features boldly. Contour slightly deeper than usual and use a peachy blush rather than pink. The warmth reads better under party lighting and in photos.
- Choose your statement. Pick either eyes or lips as your focus. For eyes, try a metallic shadow or winged liner. For lips, choose a long-wearing formula in a shade that complements your outfit.
- Lock it down. Finish with setting spray and keep your chosen lip color with you. Everything else should last through the celebration.
