First Day Makeup That Says You Belong There

Polished skin, defined eyes, and a lip color you can reapply without a mirror.

  1. Perfect your base. Use a medium-coverage foundation or tinted moisturizer that matches your neck exactly. Blend with a damp beauty sponge for a skin-like finish. Conceal only where needed—under eyes and any blemishes.
  2. Define without drama. Fill your brows with small hair-like strokes using a pencil one shade lighter than your natural color. Apply one coat of brown or brown-black mascara to both top and bottom lashes.
  3. Add subtle dimension. Sweep a matte neutral eyeshadow one shade deeper than your skin tone across your lid and into the crease. Skip shimmer or anything that catches light dramatically.
  4. Choose your power lip. Go for a lip color that enhances your natural tone—berry for cool undertones, coral for warm. Pick something in a satin or matte finish that won't transfer onto coffee cups.
  5. Set strategically. Dust translucent powder only where you get oily—typically T-zone and under eyes. Add a touch of cream blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend upward.
