Makeup for Maternity Photos That Actually Looks Like You
Keep it simple, focus on evening out your skin and defining your eyes, because pregnancy glow is real but so is pregnancy exhaustion.
- Prep skin without overdoing it. Use a hydrating primer if your skin feels dry, then apply foundation only where you need it—under eyes, around nose, over any redness. Your skin is likely more sensitive now, so less is genuinely more. Blend with damp fingers or a beauty sponge.
- Define eyes without drama. Curl lashes and apply one coat of brown or black mascara. If you want more definition, use a neutral eyeshadow one shade deeper than your skin tone in the crease. Skip complicated eye looks—they photograph flat anyway.
- Add warmth strategically. Apply cream blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend upward. Choose a color that mimics how you look after a walk outside. This gives dimension without looking overdone in photos.
- Keep lips comfortable. Use a lip color you can reapply without a mirror—tinted balm or a lipstick close to your natural lip color. You'll be talking and moving during the shoot, so choose something forgiving.
