New Year's Eve Makeup That Actually Lasts Until Midnight

Layer waterproof formulas, add strategic shimmer, and set everything twice for makeup that survives champagne toasts and dance floors.

  1. Prime everything. Use eyeshadow primer on lids and a long-wear face primer on skin. This isn't optional for a twelve-hour night. Your makeup needs something to grip onto.
  2. Build bulletproof eyes. Start with cream eyeshadow as your base, then layer powder shadow on top. Use waterproof mascara and set it with translucent powder while slightly damp to prevent flaking.
  3. Add controlled sparkle. Apply shimmer eyeshadow with a flat brush using pressing motions, not sweeping. Focus on the center of your lids and inner corners. Less coverage, more impact.
  4. Lock in your base. Set foundation with powder, then spray setting spray on a damp beauty sponge and press over your entire face. This sandwich method keeps everything in place through humidity and heat.
  5. Make lips last. Line your entire lip with pencil, apply lipstick, blot with tissue, dust with powder, then apply another layer. Skip gloss unless you want it on everyone you kiss at midnight.
