Deep Winter Plum Makeup Look

Layer burgundy and purple tones from eyes to lips using a dark base and strategic highlighting.

  1. Prime and set the stage. Apply eyeshadow primer to prevent creasing. Set with a translucent powder that won't muddy your dark tones. Skip warm-toned primers that fight plum shades.
  2. Build the plum eye. Pat a deep burgundy shade across the mobile lid, then blend a darker plum into the outer corner and crease. Use a flat brush for intensity, then a fluffy brush to diffuse edges.
  3. Define and smoke. Line eyes with black or deep purple liner, smudging slightly for softness. Add the same plum shade along the lower lash line, keeping it closer to the lashes than the waterline.
  4. Highlight strategically. Use a champagne or pale gold highlight on the inner corners and just under the brow bone. Avoid silver tones that compete with the warmth in plum shades.
  5. Complete with plum lips. Choose a berry or plum lipstick in the same tonal family as your eyeshadow. Blot once and reapply for longevity without looking heavy.
