How to Make Makeup Last All Day
Prime your skin, set each layer as you go, and use powder strategically to lock everything in place.
- Start with clean, moisturized skin. Apply a lightweight moisturizer and let it absorb completely before makeup. Clean skin grips product better than oily or dry patches.
- Use primer where you need it most. Apply primer to your T-zone and anywhere makeup typically slides off. Skip areas where your skin is already dry—primer can make those spots look worse.
- Build coverage in thin layers. Apply foundation with a damp beauty sponge or brush, building coverage gradually. Thick layers separate and slide around throughout the day.
- Set with powder immediately. Press translucent powder into areas that get oily first—under eyes, T-zone, chin. Use a fluffy brush to blend away any excess.
- Layer cream and powder products. Use cream blush, then powder blush on top for dimension and staying power. Same principle works for eyeshadow—cream base, powder on top.
- Lock in your look. Finish with setting spray held 8 inches from your face. Let it dry completely before touching anything.
