Using Concealer as Eyeshadow Primer

Pat concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone across the lid, blend the edges, and set with translucent powder before applying eyeshadow.

  1. Choose the right concealer. Use a concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone with medium to full coverage. Avoid anything too thick or too light, which will look obvious under eyeshadow.
  2. Apply to clean lids. Pat a thin layer across the entire eyelid from lash line to brow bone using your ring finger or a flat brush. The goal is even coverage, not perfection.
  3. Blend the edges. Gently blend where the concealer meets your natural skin tone to avoid harsh lines. Focus on the crease and outer corner where blending matters most.
  4. Set with powder. Dust translucent powder over the concealer to prevent creasing and create a smooth base. This step determines how well your eyeshadow will perform.
