Cut Crease for Monolid Eyes
Build depth with transition colors first, map your crease with eyes open, then carve out the shape with concealer and pack shimmer on top.
- Map your crease. Look straight into a mirror with your eyes open and use a fluffy brush to mark where you want the crease to sit. This is usually above your natural fold line, creating the illusion of depth where there isn't one naturally.
- Build the base. Apply a medium-toned eyeshadow across the entire lid and slightly above your marked line. This creates dimension and prevents the cut crease from looking flat against your skin tone.
- Deepen the outer corner. Use a darker shade in the outer V and blend upward toward your brow bone. Keep the darkest point at the outer corner to pull the eye shape outward rather than downward.
- Carve the crease. Apply concealer or eyeshadow base along your marked crease line using a small, flat brush. The line should follow the curve of your eye but sit higher than your natural fold.
- Set and highlight. Pat a light, shimmery eyeshadow over the concealer to set it and create contrast. The shimmer catches light and emphasizes the carved-out effect you've created.
