Cut Crease for Monolid Eyes

Build depth with transition colors first, map your crease with eyes open, then carve out the shape with concealer and pack shimmer on top.

  1. Map your crease. Look straight into a mirror with your eyes open and use a fluffy brush to mark where you want the crease to sit. This is usually above your natural fold line, creating the illusion of depth where there isn't one naturally.
  2. Build the base. Apply a medium-toned eyeshadow across the entire lid and slightly above your marked line. This creates dimension and prevents the cut crease from looking flat against your skin tone.
  3. Deepen the outer corner. Use a darker shade in the outer V and blend upward toward your brow bone. Keep the darkest point at the outer corner to pull the eye shape outward rather than downward.
  4. Carve the crease. Apply concealer or eyeshadow base along your marked crease line using a small, flat brush. The line should follow the curve of your eye but sit higher than your natural fold.
  5. Set and highlight. Pat a light, shimmery eyeshadow over the concealer to set it and create contrast. The shimmer catches light and emphasizes the carved-out effect you've created.
