How to Create a Floating Liner Look
Draw a disconnected line above your upper lash line, creating the illusion of liner that hovers over your eye.
- Map your eye shape. Look straight ahead in a mirror and identify where your mobile lid meets your crease. This is where your floating line will sit. Mark this spot lightly with a nude liner as your guide.
- Create the floating line. Using liquid or gel liner, draw a thin line that follows your eye shape about 2-3mm above your lash line. Start from the inner corner and extend slightly past your outer corner. Keep your eyes open while drawing to ensure the line is visible.
- Perfect the shape. Thicken the line gradually toward the outer corner, creating a subtle wing if desired. The line should appear to float independently from your lashes when your eyes are open.
- Clean up and balance. Use a flat brush with concealer to sharpen the edges and remove any wobbles. Apply mascara to your upper lashes without connecting them to the floating line.
