How to Create Metallic Liner Reflections

Apply metallic liner, then add a thin parallel line of shimmer eyeshadow or cream highlighter just above it to mimic light reflection.

  1. Map your base line. Draw your metallic liner where you want it—waterline, lash line, or graphic placement. Keep it precise since this becomes your foundation. Let it set completely before adding reflection.
  2. Choose your reflection medium. Pick something lighter and more reflective than your base liner. Cream highlighter works best for intense payoff, but shimmery eyeshadow on a thin brush gives more control.
  3. Create the reflection line. Draw a thinner parallel line directly above your metallic liner, leaving about 1mm of skin between them. This gap is crucial—it's what makes the reflection read as separate from the base.
  4. Blend the edges. Soften only the top edge of your reflection line with a small blending brush. The bottom edge stays crisp to maintain the illusion of light hitting metal.
