How to Create Baby Boomer Nails

Baby boomer nails are a modern French manicure with a pink-to-white gradient that creates a soft, natural-looking ombré effect.

  1. Prep your nails. Push back cuticles and file nails into a rounded or square shape. Apply base coat and let dry completely. Clean any oils from the nail bed with rubbing alcohol on a lint-free pad.
  2. Create the gradient base. Apply a sheer pink polish to the entire nail as your base color. Use a makeup sponge to dab white polish onto the tips, blending downward to create the gradient. Work quickly before the polish dries.
  3. Perfect the blend. Continue dabbing and blending with the sponge until you achieve a seamless pink-to-white transition. The white should be most opaque at the tips and fade naturally into the pink base.
  4. Clean and seal. Use a small brush dipped in acetone to clean any excess polish from your skin and cuticles. Apply top coat to seal the gradient and add shine.
