How to Create Milky Nails

Build translucent white layers over a clear base, then seal with glossy topcoat for that glass-like milk effect.

  1. Prep the canvas. Push back cuticles and file nails into your preferred shape. Apply a clear base coat and let it dry completely. This transparent foundation is what makes the milky effect work.
  2. Layer the milk. Apply thin coats of sheer white or milky polish, building opacity gradually. Two to three coats usually hit that sweet spot where you can still see your nail bed but it looks cloudy. Let each layer dry before adding the next.
  3. Add the glass finish. Seal with a high-shine topcoat to create that liquid glass effect. The glossier the topcoat, the more convincing the milk illusion becomes.
