How to Do Sheer Pink Nails
Build thin layers of sheer pink polish over a clean base, allowing each coat to dry completely for an effortless, natural-looking manicure.
- Prep your nails. Push back cuticles and file nails into your preferred shape. Clean nail beds with rubbing alcohol or nail dehydrator to remove oils. Apply a thin base coat and let it dry completely.
- Apply first sheer coat. Use light pressure and work quickly with your sheer pink polish. The first coat should look almost invisible—this is correct. Let it dry for two minutes before proceeding.
- Build with second coat. Apply a second thin layer, maintaining the same light touch. You should start seeing a subtle pink tint that enhances your natural nail color rather than covering it completely.
- Add third coat if needed. Most sheer pinks need three coats for the ideal opacity. The goal is translucent color that looks like your nails but better—not opaque coverage.
- Seal with top coat. Apply a clear top coat to add shine and extend wear time. Clean up any polish on skin with a small brush dipped in acetone before the top coat fully sets.
