Desert Skin Survival
Desert climates demand triple-duty hydration: a humectant serum, occlusive moisturizer, and broad-spectrum SPF reapplied religiously.
- Morning barrier prep. Start with a gentle cleanser that won't strip oils, then layer hyaluronic acid or glycerin serum on damp skin. Follow with a ceramide-rich moisturizer while skin is still slightly wet to lock in hydration.
- SPF fortress. Apply zinc oxide or titanium dioxide SPF 30+ as your final step. Desert sun is unforgiving and reflects off sand, doubling exposure. Reapply every two hours or after sweating.
- Evening repair mode. Remove SPF with an oil cleanser, then water-based cleanser. Apply a thicker night moisturizer or facial oil while skin is damp to maximize absorption and overnight repair.
- Environmental defense. Run a humidifier in your bedroom to combat dry indoor air. Drink water constantly, not just when thirsty. Your skin reflects your hydration status within hours.
