How to Keep Your Skin Cool During a Heatwave

Strip your routine down to gentle cleansing, lightweight hydration, and SPF 30+ reapplied every two hours.

  1. Switch to a gel cleanser. Hot weather means more oil and sweat, but harsh cleansing will backfire. A gel cleanser removes excess without stripping your barrier. Cleanse morning and night, never more.
  2. Layer hydration light. Heavy creams feel suffocating in heat and can trap sweat. Use a hydrating toner or essence, then a gel moisturizer. Your skin still needs moisture even when it feels oily.
  3. Reapply SPF religiously. SPF 30 minimum, reapplied every two hours without exception. Heat makes you sweat it off faster and UV rays are stronger. Choose a lightweight formula that layers well over your routine.
  4. Cool your products. Store your moisturizer and any serums in the refrigerator. The cooling effect feels incredible on overheated skin and helps reduce inflammation from heat exposure.
