How to Even Out Skin Tone at Home
Consistent gentle exfoliation, vitamin C serum, and religious SPF use will gradually fade dark spots and create more uniform skin tone over several months.
Everyone obsesses over expensive serums but ignores SPF application technique—you need a quarter teaspoon for your face alone, and most people use half that.
- Start with gentle chemical exfoliation. Use a BHA or AHA product 2-3 times per week in the evening to remove dead skin cells that make uneven tone look worse. Start slowly and build tolerance to avoid irritation that creates new dark spots.
- Apply vitamin C serum daily. Use a stable vitamin C serum every morning on clean skin before moisturizer. It inhibits melanin production and fades existing dark spots while protecting against future damage.
- Never skip SPF. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every single day, even indoors. UV exposure is the primary cause of uneven skin tone, so protection is more important than any treatment product.
- Add niacinamide for extra support. Use a 5-10% niacinamide serum morning or evening to regulate oil production and reduce the appearance of pores. It works synergistically with other ingredients to improve overall skin clarity.
