How to Minimize Dark Under-Eye Circles

Dark circles fade with consistent eye cream, concealer in the right shade, and enough sleep.

Dark circles are genetic lottery tickets most of us didn't win, but good concealer technique matters more than any miracle cream ever will.

  1. Start with a caffeine eye cream. Apply a thin layer of eye cream with caffeine every morning. The caffeine constricts blood vessels temporarily, reducing the purple-blue tint that makes circles look darker.
  2. Use color-correcting concealer first. Dab peach or orange color corrector on the darkest areas before your regular concealer. This neutralizes the blue and purple tones that regular concealer can't cover alone.
  3. Apply concealer in an inverted triangle. Draw an upside-down triangle under your eye with concealer one shade lighter than your skin. Blend the edges outward to lift the entire eye area visually.
  4. Set with translucent powder. Lightly dust setting powder over the concealed area to prevent creasing. Use a small fluffy brush and tap off excess before applying.
