How to Make Pores Look Smaller
Pores don't actually shrink, but proper cleansing, light exfoliation, and strategic makeup can make them appear significantly smaller.
Chasing invisible pores is like chasing invisible cellulite—pointless and expensive. Clean them well, blur them strategically, then focus on something more interesting.
- Double cleanse religiously. Oil cleanser first to dissolve sebum and makeup, then water-based cleanser to remove everything else. Clean pores reflect light better and appear smaller than clogged ones.
- Use salicylic acid weekly. BHA penetrates oil and loosens debris inside pores. Start with once weekly, build to twice if your skin tolerates it.
- Apply a pore-minimizing primer. Silicone-based primers fill in textural irregularities and create a smooth canvas. Focus on your T-zone where pores typically look largest.
- Keep skin hydrated. Dehydrated skin looks textured and emphasizes pores. Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer even if your skin feels oily.
