How to Balance Combination Skin

Treat each zone differently—gentle cleanser everywhere, targeted products where needed.

Combination skin isn't a problem to solve—it's a skin type to work with intelligently.

  1. Map your zones. Identify your T-zone (usually oily) and dry areas (typically cheeks and jawline). Your skin changes with seasons, stress, and hormones, so reassess monthly.
  2. Use one gentle cleanser. A single, pH-balanced cleanser works for your entire face. Cream cleansers if you lean dry, gel if you lean oily. Different cleansers for different zones is unnecessary complexity.
  3. Apply products strategically. Lightweight moisturizer on oily zones, richer cream on dry areas. Use salicylic acid only on your T-zone, hyaluronic acid on dry patches. Your forehead doesn't need what your cheeks need.
  4. SPF everywhere, daily. Use the same broad-spectrum SPF 30+ across your entire face. Gel-based formulas work well for combination skin since they won't feel heavy anywhere.
