DIY Avocado Hair Mask for Deep Conditioning
Mash one ripe avocado with a tablespoon of olive oil, apply to damp hair, leave for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- Choose the right avocado. Use an overripe avocado that feels soft to touch and gives slightly when pressed. The mushier, the better for blending into a smooth paste without lumps.
- Create your base. Mash the avocado with a fork until completely smooth, then mix in one tablespoon of olive oil. The oil helps the mixture spread evenly and adds extra conditioning power.
- Prep your hair. Work the mask into damp, not soaking hair from mid-length to ends. Avoid the scalp unless your hair is extremely dry.
- Let it work. Cover with a shower cap and leave for 20 minutes. The natural oils need time to penetrate the hair shaft and smooth the cuticle.
- Rinse completely. Use cool water first to remove the bulk of the mask, then shampoo once with a gentle cleanser. Make sure no green bits remain.
