DIY Banana Hair Mask for Deep Moisture

Mash one ripe banana with honey and olive oil, apply to damp hair for 20 minutes, then shampoo twice to remove completely.

  1. Choose your banana. Use an overripe banana with brown spots—it mashes smoother and has more natural sugars. Avoid green bananas which are harder to blend and less nourishing.
  2. Create the base. Mash one large banana until completely smooth, no lumps. Add one tablespoon honey and one tablespoon olive oil, mix until creamy.
  3. Apply section by section. Start with damp hair and work the mask through mid-lengths to ends, avoiding roots. Use a wide-tooth comb to distribute evenly and prevent clumping.
  4. Process and rinse. Cover with a shower cap and leave for 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water first, then shampoo twice—banana can be stubborn to remove completely.
