How to Make Lip Stain from Fresh Beetroot
Simmer fresh beetroot slices in coconut oil for 10 minutes, strain, and cool for a natural lip tint that lasts hours.
Most DIY lip products are messy disasters, but this actually works because beetroot is nature's most reliable dye—just don't expect it to smell like roses.
- Prep your beetroot. Choose a deep red beetroot and slice it into thin rounds. Fresh beetroot releases more pigment than cooked, giving you better color payoff.
- Create the base. Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a small pan over low heat. Add your beetroot slices and let them simmer gently for 8-10 minutes until the oil turns deep pink.
- Strain and set. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh or cheesecloth into a small container. Let it cool completely—the oil will solidify slightly, creating the perfect consistency for application.
- Apply strategically. Use your finger or a lip brush to press the stain into clean, dry lips. Build color gradually with light layers rather than one heavy application.
