How to Make Honey Lip Balm at Home
Melt beeswax with coconut oil, add honey and vitamin E, then pour into containers to set.
Most people overthink lip balm—honey is already perfect, you're just giving it structure to travel with you.
- Gather your base ingredients. You need 1 tablespoon beeswax pellets, 2 tablespoons coconut oil, 1 teaspoon raw honey, and 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil. These ratios create the perfect texture that actually stays put.
- Melt the wax and oil. Use a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each round. The mixture is ready when completely smooth and no wax chunks remain.
- Add honey and vitamin E. Remove from heat and immediately stir in honey and vitamin E oil while the mixture is still warm. Work quickly—honey can seize if the temperature drops too much.
- Pour and cool. Fill small containers or lip balm tubes immediately before the mixture starts to thicken. Let cool at room temperature for 2 hours until completely solid.
