How to Make Rose Water Toner at Home

Simmer fresh rose petals in distilled water for 15 minutes, strain, and store in the fridge for up to two weeks.

  1. Choose your roses. Use organic roses that haven't been treated with pesticides—grocery store bouquets won't work. Pink or red varieties give the strongest scent and color.
  2. Prepare the petals. Rinse two cups of fresh petals under cool water and remove any stems or damaged bits. Pat dry with a clean towel.
  3. Simmer gently. Place petals in a pot with just enough distilled water to cover them. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes until petals lose their color and water turns pink.
  4. Strain and store. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a clean glass bottle. Let cool completely before refrigerating—it keeps for two weeks maximum.
