How to Care for Your T-Zone Without Drying Your Cheeks

Use targeted products on different face zones and apply oil-control treatments only where you need them.

Stop treating your face like one uniform surface—it's not.

  1. Map your zones. Touch your face after cleansing to feel where oil builds up versus where skin feels tight. Your T-zone typically runs from forehead to nose to chin, but everyone's oily areas are different.
  2. Cleanse strategically. Use a gentle cleanser all over, then apply a small amount of salicylic acid cleanser only to oily areas with fingertips. Rinse thoroughly to prevent product from sitting on dry areas.
  3. Apply treatments separately. Put oil-control serums or treatments only on your T-zone using precise application. Use a hydrating serum on your cheeks while the T-zone treatment absorbs.
  4. Moisturize by zone. Apply a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer to your T-zone and a richer formula to your cheeks. Let each absorb before applying SPF all over.
