How to Care for Your Temples
Temples need gentle cleansing, light moisturizing, and SPF protection since the skin here is thin and shows aging quickly.
Most people forget their temples exist until they start showing age spots and fine lines from years of sun exposure and neglect.
- Gentle cleansing. Use your regular face cleanser with light pressure. The skin around your temples is thinner than most of your face, so no aggressive rubbing. Pat dry with a clean towel.
- Light moisturizing. Apply a lightweight facial moisturizer in upward motions from your hairline down. Avoid heavy creams that might migrate into your hair or cause breakouts along the hairline.
- SPF protection. This area catches a lot of sun exposure, especially if you wear your hair up. Apply sunscreen daily, making sure to blend well at the hairline so you don't get white residue in your hair.
- Weekly gentle exfoliation. Use a mild chemical exfoliant like a low-percentage AHA once a week. This helps prevent buildup from hair products and keeps the area smooth without irritation.
