How to Use Colloidal Oat for Irritated Skin
Colloidal oat soothes irritation through gentle cleansing, direct application as a paste, or added to lukewarm baths.
- Choose your method. Decide between a gentle cleanser with colloidal oat, a DIY paste, or a bath soak. Each delivers the anti-inflammatory compounds differently but all work to calm reactive skin.
- For cleansing. Mix a teaspoon of colloidal oat powder with enough water to form a thin paste. Gently massage onto damp skin for 30 seconds, then rinse with cool water.
- For spot treatment. Create a thicker paste with colloidal oat and water, apply to irritated areas, and leave for 10-15 minutes. The oat forms a protective barrier while delivering anti-inflammatory benefits.
- For full-body relief. Add two tablespoons of colloidal oat to a lukewarm bath and soak for 15-20 minutes. Pat skin dry rather than rubbing to maintain the soothing film the oat creates.
