How to Use Glycerin for Hydration

Apply glycerin to damp skin, never dry skin, to lock in moisture without the sticky finish.

  1. Start with damp skin. Mist your face with water or apply glycerin right after cleansing while skin is still slightly wet. Glycerin pulls moisture from the air and your skin, so it needs water to work with.
  2. Dilute if using pure glycerin. Mix one part glycerin with two parts water or rose water in your palm. Pure glycerin can feel heavy and attract too much moisture from deeper skin layers in dry climates.
  3. Apply in thin layers. Pat the mixture gently into skin, focusing on dry areas. Let it absorb for 30 seconds before applying moisturizer or makeup.
  4. Seal with an occlusive. Follow with your regular moisturizer or a light face oil. Glycerin works best when trapped under another layer that prevents water loss.
