How to Use Lactobionic Acid for Sensitive Skin

Start with a low concentration serum twice weekly in the evening, followed immediately by moisturizer to buffer the gentle exfoliation.

  1. Start low and slow. Choose a lactobionic acid product with 1-2% concentration. Apply it to clean, dry skin twice per week in the evening only. Your skin needs time to adjust to any acid, even the gentlest ones.
  2. Layer properly. Apply lactobionic acid serum to bare skin, wait 2-3 minutes for absorption, then follow with your regular moisturizer. The moisturizer acts as a buffer and prevents any potential irritation while the acid works.
  3. Build tolerance gradually. After two weeks of twice-weekly use with no irritation, increase to every other night. Never use lactobionic acid on the same night as retinoids, vitamin C, or other exfoliating acids.
