How to Use Propolis for Acne-Prone Skin
Apply propolis toner or serum to clean skin before moisturizer to reduce inflammation and support your skin barrier without clogging pores.
- Start with a patch test. Apply a small amount of propolis product to your inner wrist and wait 24 hours. Propolis can cause allergic reactions in people sensitive to bee products or tree pollens.
- Choose the right concentration. Look for products with 10-30% propolis extract for acne-prone skin. Higher concentrations aren't necessarily better and can cause irritation.
- Layer correctly in your routine. Use propolis products after cleansing but before oils or heavy moisturizers. The sticky texture needs to absorb fully before adding other products on top.
- Apply to targeted areas. Focus on areas prone to breakouts rather than your entire face initially. Propolis works best on inflamed acne rather than blackheads or closed comedones.
- Give it time to work. Use consistently for 4-6 weeks to see results. Propolis works by reducing inflammation and supporting skin healing rather than providing immediate effects.
