How to Use Propolis for Acne-Prone Skin

Apply propolis toner or serum to clean skin before moisturizer to reduce inflammation and support your skin barrier without clogging pores.

  1. Start with a patch test. Apply a small amount of propolis product to your inner wrist and wait 24 hours. Propolis can cause allergic reactions in people sensitive to bee products or tree pollens.
  2. Choose the right concentration. Look for products with 10-30% propolis extract for acne-prone skin. Higher concentrations aren't necessarily better and can cause irritation.
  3. Layer correctly in your routine. Use propolis products after cleansing but before oils or heavy moisturizers. The sticky texture needs to absorb fully before adding other products on top.
  4. Apply to targeted areas. Focus on areas prone to breakouts rather than your entire face initially. Propolis works best on inflamed acne rather than blackheads or closed comedones.
  5. Give it time to work. Use consistently for 4-6 weeks to see results. Propolis works by reducing inflammation and supporting skin healing rather than providing immediate effects.
