How to Use Rhassoul Clay for Hair and Skin

Mix rhassoul clay with water or rose water to form a smooth paste, apply to clean skin or damp hair, leave for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

  1. Prepare the clay mixture. Combine 2-3 tablespoons of rhassoul clay powder with enough liquid to create a smooth, spreadable paste. Water works perfectly, though rose water or herbal tea adds extra benefits. The consistency should be thick enough to stay put but not so thick it cracks immediately.
  2. Apply to skin. Spread an even layer over clean, slightly damp skin using clean fingers or a brush. Avoid the delicate eye area and any broken skin. The clay will begin to tighten as it dries, which is normal and part of the process.
  3. Use on hair. Work the paste through damp hair from mid-length to ends, focusing on areas that feel heavy or greasy. Massage gently into the scalp if treating oily roots. Cover with a shower cap to prevent the clay from drying out completely.
  4. Remove properly. Rinse with lukewarm water when the clay feels tight but not completely dry, usually 10-15 minutes. Use gentle circular motions to help lift away impurities. Follow with your usual moisturizer for skin or conditioner for hair.
