How to Use Turmeric for Skin Brightening
Mix turmeric powder with yogurt or honey to create a gentle mask that can help even skin tone over time.
Turmeric masks are the beauty equivalent of a slow burn—effective but requiring patience that most people don't have.
- Choose your base. Start with plain Greek yogurt for sensitive skin or raw honey for dry skin. Both contain natural acids that work with turmeric's anti-inflammatory properties. Use about two tablespoons as your foundation.
- Add turmeric carefully. Mix in half a teaspoon of pure turmeric powder—not the cooking blend. Too much will stain your skin yellow temporarily. The mixture should be golden, not orange.
- Test and apply. Patch test on your inner wrist first. If no reaction after 24 hours, apply the mask to clean, dry skin avoiding the eye area. Leave for 10-15 minutes maximum.
- Remove gently. Use a warm, damp cloth to remove the mask in circular motions. Follow with a gentle cleanser if needed and your usual moisturizer. Use once weekly maximum.
