How to Make Large Pores Look Smaller
Large pores can't shrink permanently, but proper cleansing, regular exfoliation, and strategic makeup create the illusion of smaller pores.
- Double cleanse religiously. Oil cleanser first, then water-based cleanser. Clogged pores look bigger, so this removes makeup, sunscreen, and debris that stretches them out. Do this every evening without fail.
- Exfoliate with BHA twice weekly. Salicylic acid dissolves oil inside pores and prevents buildup. Start with 0.5% concentration and work up to 2% as your skin adapts. Apply after cleansing, before moisturizer.
- Use niacinamide serum daily. This ingredient temporarily tightens pore appearance and controls oil production. Apply 10% niacinamide serum in the morning under moisturizer and SPF.
- Prime strategically before makeup. Silicone-based primers fill in pore texture and create a smooth canvas. Press gently into skin rather than rubbing, focusing on your T-zone and cheek areas.
- Apply foundation in thin layers. Heavy coverage settles into pores and emphasizes them. Build coverage gradually with a damp beauty sponge, pressing rather than wiping across the skin.
