Night Before Skin Prep

Gentle cleanse, light exfoliation if needed, hydrating serum, and a good moisturizer will have your skin event-ready by morning.

  1. Double cleanse properly. Remove makeup with an oil cleanser, then follow with your regular cleanser. This ensures zero residue that could cause morning breakouts or interfere with makeup application.
  2. Exfoliate strategically. Only use a gentle chemical exfoliant if your skin tolerates it well and you've used it before. Skip physical scrubs entirely—they can cause micro-tears that show up as irritation under makeup.
  3. Layer hydration. Apply a hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid or glycerin, then seal with your regular moisturizer. Well-hydrated skin holds makeup better and looks naturally plump.
  4. Sleep on clean pillowcases. Fresh pillowcases prevent transferring oils and bacteria back to your prepped skin. Consider silk or satin to minimize friction that can cause creasing.
