How to Build a Morning Skincare Routine
Start with cleanser, follow with moisturizer, finish with SPF—everything else is optional noise.
Most people overcomplicate morning routines then wonder why their skin rebels—three good products beat ten mediocre ones every time.
- Cleanse lightly. Use a gentle cleanser to remove overnight buildup without stripping your skin. Your morning cleanse should be lighter than evening—you're not removing makeup or sunscreen, just preparing a clean canvas.
- Apply treatments if needed. Add serums or treatments between cleansing and moisturizing. Vitamin C works well in the morning, but start slow and listen to your skin. Less is always more until you know what works.
- Moisturize for your skin type. Choose a moisturizer that absorbs well under makeup and suits your skin's needs. Dry skin needs richer formulas, oily skin prefers lightweight gels, combination skin benefits from targeted application.
- Apply SPF religiously. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every single day, even indoors. Apply generously—most people use half the amount they need. Reapply throughout the day if you're outside.
