How to Build a Weekly Skincare Routine
Layer products from thinnest to thickest consistency, morning and night, with one weekly treatment day for deeper care.
A routine you actually do is infinitely better than a perfect routine you skip half the time.
- Map your morning basics. Start with cleanser, then any serums, moisturizer, and SPF as your final step. This order ensures each product absorbs properly without interference. Keep morning routines simple since you're applying makeup and heading out.
- Design your evening routine. Remove makeup first, then cleanse, apply treatments, and finish with moisturizer. Evening is when skin repairs itself, so this is your moment for active ingredients. Your skin can handle more at night when it's not fighting environmental stressors.
- Schedule your weekly treatment. Pick one night for deeper care like a face mask, gentle exfoliation, or overnight treatment. Wednesday works well since it breaks up the week without interfering with weekend plans. Consistency matters more than intensity.
- Track what works. Give new products two weeks minimum before deciding if they're working. Your skin needs time to adjust and show real results. Take progress photos in the same lighting to see changes your mirror might miss.
