How to Do a Post-Sun Recovery Routine

Cool, hydrate, and repair sun-exposed skin with gentle cleansing, cooling treatments, and intensive moisture to prevent peeling and maintain your glow.

  1. Cool down immediately. Take a lukewarm shower or bath to lower your skin temperature without shocking it with cold water. Pat skin dry with a soft towel, leaving it slightly damp to lock in moisture.
  2. Apply cooling treatment. Use aloe vera gel, a cooling face mask, or refrigerated moisturizer on sun-exposed areas. The goal is to calm inflammation and reduce heat trapped in your skin.
  3. Hydrate intensively. Apply a rich, fragrance-free moisturizer while skin is still damp from your shower. Focus on areas that feel tight or look pink, and reapply throughout the day as needed.
  4. Drink water and rest. Sun exposure dehydrates from the inside out, so drink more water than usual. Your skin repairs itself overnight, so prioritize sleep and avoid harsh products for 24-48 hours.
