How to Do the 60-Second Cleansing Method
Massage your cleanser into dry skin for a full minute before adding water to dissolve makeup and buildup more thoroughly.
Most people rush their cleansing like they're washing dishes — this method forces you to actually dissolve what you put on your face instead of just moving it around.
- Apply to dry skin. Pump cleanser into your palms and apply to completely dry face. Start with closed eyes and work outward in small circles.
- Massage for 60 seconds. Use gentle upward motions, spending extra time on areas where makeup or sunscreen sits heaviest. Your skin should feel slightly warm from the friction.
- Add water slowly. Wet your hands and gently emulsify the cleanser until it turns milky. This step lifts away dissolved debris without stripping your skin.
- Rinse completely. Use lukewarm water to remove all traces of cleanser. Pat dry with a clean towel instead of rubbing.
