How to Layer Seven Skins for Glass-Finish Hydration
Apply the same lightweight toner or essence seven times in thin layers, patting each one until absorbed before adding the next.
It's skincare theater that happens to work—your skin drinks up the first few layers, the rest is just expensive meditation time.
- Choose your base liquid. Pick a watery toner or essence without actives like acids or retinol. You want pure hydration, not treatment ingredients multiplied seven times. Japanese and Korean toners work best for this.
- Start with clean, slightly damp skin. Apply to freshly cleansed skin that still has a hint of moisture. This helps each layer absorb better instead of sitting on top. Pat your face with a towel but leave it barely damp.
- Apply seven thin layers. Pour a small amount into your palms, pat onto face and neck until absorbed. Repeat six more times, waiting 30 seconds between each layer. Your skin should feel plump and bouncy, not wet or sticky.
- Seal with your regular routine. Follow with your usual serums and moisturizer while skin is still tacky from the final layer. The hydrated base helps everything else absorb better and work more effectively.
