How to Do the Skin Flooding Method

Apply multiple thin layers of hydrating products while your skin is still damp, sealing each layer before adding the next.

  1. Start with damp skin. Cleanse your face and pat dry with a towel, leaving skin slightly damp. The remaining moisture creates a base for your products to grab onto and prevents that tight feeling.
  2. Apply your thinnest product first. Start with a hydrating toner or essence, pressing it gently into damp skin with your palms. Let it absorb for 30 seconds before moving to the next layer.
  3. Layer your serum. Apply a hyaluronic acid or hydrating serum while the previous layer is still slightly tacky. This creates a moisture sandwich that locks hydration between layers.
  4. Add moisturizer while skin is still damp. Press a lightweight moisturizer into skin before the serum fully dries. Your skin should feel plump and bouncy, not greasy or heavy.
  5. Seal everything. Finish with a few drops of facial oil or a heavier moisturizer if your skin needs it. This final layer prevents water loss and keeps everything locked in place.
