How to Keep Your Skin Clear While Traveling

Strip down to basics, double up on moisture, and never skip SPF.

Most people pack too many products and wonder why their skin freaks out. Travel skincare is about damage control, not optimization.

  1. Pack smart. Bring only your essential cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF in travel sizes. New environments stress your skin enough without introducing new products. Stick to what you know works.
  2. Hydrate aggressively. Airplane cabins and hotel air conditioning suck moisture from your skin. Use a heavier moisturizer than usual and apply it twice daily. Your skin will thank you for the extra barrier.
  3. Cleanse gently but thoroughly. Travel exposes your skin to more dirt, pollution, and germs than usual. Cleanse morning and night with your regular cleanser, but resist the urge to over-wash or scrub harder.
  4. Never negotiate on SPF. Different altitudes, reflected light from water or snow, and longer outdoor hours mean higher UV exposure. Reapply every two hours and choose SPF 30 minimum.
