How to Use a Gua Sha Tool
Glide the gua sha tool upward and outward across lubricated skin with gentle, consistent pressure to boost circulation and reduce puffiness.
Gua sha works because you're giving yourself a structured facial massage, not because the stone has magical properties.
- Prep your skin. Start with clean skin and apply a facial oil or serum generously. The tool needs slip to glide smoothly without tugging. Never use a gua sha on dry skin.
- Master the angle. Hold the tool at a 15-degree angle against your skin. Keep the pressure firm but gentle — you want to feel it working without causing redness or discomfort.
- Work in sections. Start at your jawline and stroke upward toward your ears. Move to your cheeks, gliding from nose to temples. Finish with gentle strokes from your eyebrows to hairline.
- Use proper technique. Each stroke should be slow and deliberate, taking 3-5 seconds. Always move upward or outward, never downward. Repeat each stroke 3-5 times before moving to the next area.
- Clean and store. Wash your gua sha with gentle soap and warm water after each use. Store it clean and dry to prevent bacteria buildup.
