How to Use an Ice Roller for Face
Roll from center outward with gentle pressure after cleansing, moving in upward strokes for lymphatic drainage.
Ice rolling is the lazy person's lymphatic drainage massage, and sometimes lazy is exactly what your 6 AM face needs.
- Chill the roller. Store your ice roller in the freezer for at least 2 hours before use. A properly frozen roller should feel intensely cold but not painful to touch.
- Start with clean skin. Cleanse your face first or use the roller over a hydrating serum. Never roll over makeup or dirty skin as this can push bacteria around.
- Begin at the center. Start at your nose and roll outward toward your ears with gentle, consistent pressure. Use upward motions to work with lymphatic flow, not against it.
- Work systematically. Move from forehead down to jawline, spending 30 seconds on each area. Roll over puffy under-eyes with extra gentleness using the smallest part of the roller.
- Finish with product. Apply moisturizer or serum immediately after rolling while your skin is still cool. The cold helps products absorb better and seals in the tightening effect.
