How to Use a Skin Moisture Meter

Press the prongs against clean, bare skin for 3-5 seconds to get a hydration reading between 0-99%.

  1. Prepare your skin. Cleanse the area you want to test and wait 30 minutes before measuring. Products, oils, and even water will skew the reading completely.
  2. Position the meter correctly. Place both metal prongs flat against your skin with gentle, even pressure. Don't press hard or the reading will be inaccurate.
  3. Wait for the reading. Hold steady for 3-5 seconds until the number stabilizes. Most meters beep when ready, and good hydration typically reads 40-60%.
  4. Test multiple areas. Check your forehead, cheeks, and jawline since hydration varies across your face. Your T-zone is usually more hydrated than your cheek area.
