Kitchen Ingredient Face Masks That Actually Work
Mix simple kitchen ingredients like honey, oatmeal, or yogurt based on your skin's needs for effective DIY masks.
DIY masks are fine for an occasional treat, but if you're doing this more than buying actual skincare, you're probably avoiding dealing with what your skin actually needs.
- Choose your base ingredient. Honey for hydration, oatmeal for gentle exfoliation, or plain yogurt for mild acids. Your skin type dictates the choice.
- Add complementary ingredients. Mix in one or two extras: a pinch of turmeric for anti-inflammatory benefits, mashed avocado for dry skin, or a few drops of lemon juice for oily skin. Keep ratios simple—about 2 tablespoons base to 1 teaspoon add-ins.
- Test and apply. Patch test on your wrist first. Apply to clean, damp skin avoiding the eye area, leave for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
- Follow with your routine. Pat skin dry and continue with your normal moisturizer. Use these masks once or twice weekly maximum.
