How to Use a Sheet Mask Correctly

Apply to clean skin for 15-20 minutes, remove without rinsing, and pat in any remaining essence.

Sheet masks are skincare's equivalent of a good blazer: reliable, effective, and they do exactly what they promise without drama.

  1. Start with clean skin. Cleanse your face thoroughly and pat dry. Your skin should be completely makeup-free and slightly damp to help the mask adhere properly.
  2. Unfold and position. Remove the mask from packaging and unfold carefully. Align the eye holes first, then smooth down over cheeks and chin, pressing out air bubbles.
  3. Wait 15-20 minutes. Leave the mask on until it starts to feel less saturated but not completely dry. Most sheet masks are designed for this timing to deliver optimal ingredient absorption.
  4. Remove and pat in essence. Peel off the mask starting from the edges and discard. Gently pat any remaining essence into your skin until absorbed—don't rinse it off.
